SHANE SHINES THROUGH !
(L-R) Tracey Bridge, Ken Rimington, John Winn, Curtis Woolley, Carl Smith, Shane Smith.
(Front) George Lewis
The 2013 season kicked off in the best possible way with a four way tie at the top of the leader board to force a 25 bird shoot off. Shane Smith (Leics), John Winn (Lincs), and Andy Brown and Curtis Woolley from Notts all square on 97 each.
Sadly Andy Brown had left the ground when the shoot off was called and it was down to the other three to decide the destination of the medals. As you would expect the shoot off was very tense but it was Shane that came out on top with a faultless round. There was compensation for second place finisher Curtis as he once again won the Junior title, and in a similar style third place finisher John took the Veterans title.
Surprisingly there was only one lady competitor and that was Tracey Bridge who of course won the Ladies title.
In Vets Ken Rimington finished a couple of clays behind John Winn to take the silver medal and Mike Brookes from Leics completed the placing’s to take the bronze medal.
Notts domination in junior trap competitions continued with Conor Bean taking the silver medal and George Lewis the bronze.
Final mention goes to Tony “AJ” Dean from Cheshire who hit the perfect ton.
Many thanks to Nottingham & District for hosting this event and of course the 38 entries on the day.
