EAST MIDLANDS CPSA – NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2013

Dear Member

March saw our regional shoots start off in earnest, and like last year Mother Nature has been doing her best to make events unpleasant to shoot in.

In the Single Barrel at Nottingham we had a four way tie at the top of the leader board, and it took a 25 bird shoot off before we could declare Shane Smith of Leicestershire the Champion. Other category winners included John Winn (Vets), Tracey Bridge (Ladies) and Curtis Woolley (Juniors).

Just a week later Kegworth hosted the Regional FITASC in sub-zero temperatures and driving sleet and snow, but despite all that you came out in your droves to support the region and in turn break the all-time attendance record for this event, the new record now stands at 105.

Martin Doughty (Notts) and Gary Greet (Leics) finished all square on 93 and we are yet to resolve the situation, but plans are in place. The days other winners included Rachael Willcock (Leics) who won Ladies and Brian Dunbavin (Cambs) won the Vets.

Just over a week ago the ABT was under threat and under snow as Nottingham fell foul of some dreadful weather. Deep snow drifts covered the layouts, but thanks to Carl and his team plus a mini digger and they managed to get two layouts suitable for shooting on. Amazingly 33 hardy souls braved the conditions, and it was that man John Winn who won both the Regional and Vets titles. Alison Dupree (Lincs) took the Ladies title and fellow Lincs shooter Jack Wilkinson completed proceedings by winning Juniors.

One snippet of news I missed from last month, but I am sure you have realised, you didn’t win the Season Ticket. It was drawn out at the AGM from all those that subscribe to this newsletter and the lucky winner was Kyle Woodhall-Cross from Norfolk. Kyle’s prize is free entry into all 23 regional shoots this year, a prize worth just over £800. We are the only region that runs a competition like this and we would once again like to thank all the participating grounds for their help.

Looking at this month we have one of our top shoots of the season coming up this weekend, Sunday 7th of April. It’s the English Sporting at Kibworth, entries open at 10am with last cards at 2pm and a £150 High Gun up for grabs. The weather forecast is good with predicted highs of 51 degrees, which will be most welcome. SAT NAV Directions LE8 0RD.

To round things off this month we have the Double Rise at Nottingham on Sunday April 28th, entries are already being taken on 01623-883798 or just turn up on the day. SAT NAV Directions NG25 0RQ.

Well that’s about it for this month, to keep in touch with what’s going on in the region you can also follow us on FACEBOOK and also by logging into the East Mids website where you will find news, detailed reports and scores plus a few photo’s.
