Regional DTL Championsip 2014

ROSE BLOSSOMS IN THE DTL

Once again hosted by Nottingham & District, an entry one down on last year of fifty-Nine shooters from ten counties, one from as far afield as Cornwall, did battle for the always hotly contested Regional DTL Championships.

Sadly it was typical Bank Holiday weather, cold, overcast and windy, but all credit to those present as the scores didn’t appear to be down on previous years. Saying that just Andy Brown from Nottinghamshire hit every target to end on 100/295, but even that didn’t win him the High Gun trophy as Nick Rose from Lincolnshire missed just one target, and one second barrel kill which was enough to take him to his first (to my knowledge) regional title, for the record Nick had been foot perfect until his last round, but his 99/296 was just enough to win.

Emma Wheeldon from Notts making a rare appearance in Regional Championships claimed the third place overall, just a solitary point behind Andy to finish on 99/294, Emma’s score also being enough to take the Ladies title. Runner up and third respectively were Lincolnshire Ladies Leanne Powell and Tracey Bridge, Leanne on 96/283 and Tracey 93/266.

In Veterans, yes you guessed it John Winn from Lincolnshire on 99/289 was the winner, but he was made to work for it by local hero Ken Rimington who hit one less target and just missed out one point behind John, to finish on 98/288.

Mike Brooks from Leicestershire and George Constanti from Lincolnshire finished all square on 273 to finish joint third in Vets, and as both had left the ground remains unresolved.

In Juniors the conveyer belt of DTL talent churned out by Nottinghamshire, claimed all three placing’s. This time it was Freddy Brown who claimed top spot finishing on 97/279 to beat Joe Booth on 94/273, and just a couple of points back George Lewis on 93/271 finishing third.

Once again we thank Carl and all his team at Nottingham for providing the regional trap shooters with a good days shooting.
