KEN WINS DOUBLE RISE TITLE AFTER SHOOT OFF

The tricky discipline of Double Rise was battled out at Nottingham & District GC at the weekend, with a slightly better attendance than last year.

The weather was just about spot on, bright, warm and with a mistral breeze and definitely shorts weather.

Ken Rimington from Nott’s and Mike Brookes from Leicestershire just about dominated proceedings and finished all square on 80 apiece, so a shoot off it was to decide the winner. This time it was Ken that grasped the opportunity recording 44 to 37 in his favour to win the regional title. But Mikes defeat in the shoot off was compensated for with the reward of the Vets title.

Audrey Smith making the long trip from Norfolk won the Ladies title, and local lad Joe Booth the juniors.
