East Mids All Round 2016

HAZEL PUTS HER SEASON TICKET TO GOOD USE

HAZEL WHITEN - CAMBRIDGESHIRE - LADIES ALL ROUND CHAMPION

Last weekend Northampton Shooting Ground once again hosted the East Midlands CPSA All Round Championships.

46 shooters from across the region attended in what can only be described as changeable weather, the earlier midweek promise of a fine warm day evaporated, and it was as they say an overcoat cooler. On the plus side it stayed fine and all bar the cool temperatures out of the sun, it was just about as good as it gets for shooting conditions.

Hazel Whiten from Cambridgeshire, who is currently the holder of the East Midlands Season ticket which allows her free entry into all of the 23 shoots run by the East Midlands this season put her prize to good use, and won the ladies event on a score of 74, next best was Northants junior lady Kirstin Vogel on 70 and our “Queen of Skeet” Joy Hirons from Leicestershire was third.

In the overall competition it was Stephen Janes from Bedfordshire winning his first regional title with a cracking score of 91, regional regular Mick Russell from Northamptonshire was second a couple of targets behind, and fellow Northants shooters Mike Rolstone third a further two clays adrift.

STEPHEN JANES - BEDFORDSHIRE - SENIOR ALL ROUND CHAMPION

In veterans it was a three way tie of Bedfordshire shooters at the top of the leader board, P Coxall, Jim Munday and John Stanton finishing all square on 82. With a recent revision of finalising a result, we are allowed to use count back to resolve a tie, and in the final totting up John Stanton was declared the veteran’s champion, Jim Munday second and P Coxall third.

In juniors it was another tie for the winners honours with Ollie Main and Kirstin Vogel of Northamptonshire tied on 70, again count back was used to declare Ollie as junior champion. Kirstin having to settle with her second silver on the day, and George Whatton another Northants junior finishing in third place.

Many thanks to Pete, Martine and Roy for their hospitality, and also thanks are extended to our referee’s.
