EAST MIDLANDS REGIONAL TEAM SUCCESS
As Bywell Shooting Ground basked in an unprecedented warm and sunny weekend our regional team of ABT shooters themselves turned up the heat to give the Ladies and Veterans teams success.
The Ladies team were well clear of their nearest rivals with some exceptional scores from Mary Rowley (186), Sue Bate (174) and Jackie Houghton (165).
The Veterans were up against strong opposition from the North, who usually dominate this event, but all rose to the challenge with Phil Rowley scoring 190, John Winn188 and Mick Feather 183 giving them a final lead of 13 points.
The Senior team came so close, being beaten by just 26 targets which when you consider this is out of 1000 targets is a very narrow margin. We were fielding some big hitters as the scores demonstrate - Jack Wilkinson (193), Dave Sipling (186), Marvin Houghton (182), Steve Parker (181), G Carter (179), Norman Eaton (177), Pasquale Ritucci (173), John Stephenson (171), Tony Clayton (155) and Elena Taylor (155) – top 5 scores to count.
Congratulations to all team members, it was a sterling effort by all.
We must also especially commend the Henry Brothers, the ground staff and the office staff at Bywell for the thoroughly professional manner in which this shoot was run. The presentation of the ground was immaculate with the grass manicured, the hard standings swept, cartridges and bins collected up each day and most of all well presented targets. When you add into the mix the brilliant weather it made it a great way to spend a weekend’s shooting.
