DTL Weekend
ENGLISH OPEN DTL
HELD AT BYWELL SHOOTING GROUND
ON SUNDAY 13TH JUNE
As well as being a major championship in the CPSA calendar and a selection shoot for those who are hopeful of securing an England Team place there are also several peripheral events being run as part of this event which add a bit of excitement to the proceedings.
The East Midlands, along with the 4 other regions, entered a team in each category with the senior team, in particular, coming agonisingly close to taking the honours for the second year running, finishing just 1 point behind the North Region. When you consider that this is over 5 scores just two more second barrels would have secured the win. So near yet so far!! Top scorer for the East Midlands senior team was Geoff Howlett on 99/297 who then put in another perfect 25/75 in a shoot off to give him a win in AA. The veteran team also had to settle for second place finishing 3 points behind West Midlands.
Although the junior and ladies’ teams finished somewhat adrift points wise nevertheless special mention must be made of some outstanding individual performances. Megan Williams, who has been steadily improving this year, scored 98/284 which earned her third place in Ladies and third place in Juniors. Shooting only his third registered DTL, Edward Armett’s score of 94/279 earned him second place in Colts and partnered with his Dad, Pete, won the top prize in the parent and child competition.
Congratulations to all.
