REGIONAL UT CHAMPIONSHIP

EAST MIDLANDS UT CHAMPIONSHIP

HELD AT EAST YORKSHIRE CLAY SHOOTING GROUND

SUNDAY 17TH JULY

With temperatures hovering around 30 degrees it was certainly a warm one for this year’s UT championship.  A clash of fixtures with the World ABT Championship at Fauxdegla (or perhaps the cost of fuel!) resulted in a reduced entry this year, with competitors only from three of the counties in the East Midlands region but competition was still fierce and, despite the concentration sapping heat, some very respectable scores were turned in.  The best of those scores came from Lincolnshire’s Marvin Houghton whose score of 93 gave him the East Midlands title and High Gun overall.  The runner up slot went to Nigel Watson (Lincs) but tied for third place were David Wright (Leics) and Jack Brazier (Lincs) both finishing on 88.  The shoot off promised to be something special as 16-year-old, Jack, competed against Super Veteran David,  It did not disappoint.  Both blistered the first 10 targets but then the odd one or two slipped away from David (as they do!) so, on this occasion, age overtook experience as Jack cleared the round with 23 perfect kills with only 2 second barrels.

Thanks, as always, to Rob and the team at East Yorkshire CSG for a well-run event.  Whatever the weather we are always assured of a warm welcome.
