EAST MIDLANDS SINGLE BARREL CHAMPIONSHIPS

PRIORY CTC – SUNDAY JUNE 30^th

In the latest of the East Midlands Regional Championships Suffolk’s finest Geoff Howlett was a dominant force in difficult and windy conditions in the Single Barrel at Priory CTC, where Geoff romped to victory by 4 clear shots on a superb 96, apparently unphased by the gusting winds that troubled the other shooters.

Runner Up was Jason Matthewson from Norfolk who did his best to challenge Geoff with an equally impressive 92, but at the end of the day Geoff was in a class of his own and was deservedly crowned the East Midlands Champion for 2023, Richard Sutterby from Norfolk completed the 1-2-3 taking the bronze medal on countback.

In Veterans Cambridgeshire shooter Ian Larman was well clear of second placed county teammate Mike Williams to take the Vets title, Ian finishing on 88 and Mike on 79, and in turn Mike was six targets clear of third placed and bronze medal winner John Toombs from Lincolnshire.

In Ladies we had just one entry Elzbieta MacGreggor White from Lincolnshire who finished on 71 and took the Ladies title unchallenged, sadly there were no Junior entries.

Disappointingly there were only 16 entries for this event blighted by the fact several booked in entries simply didn’t turn up and decided to shoot elsewhere without informing the ground, so can we respectively ask if you cannot attend an event after booking in then please let the ground know.

Very often grounds take on additional staff and order in food to cater for the booked in entry, and if people do not turn up it is needless expenditure in what are tough financial times for us all.
