Well, that was the last East Midlands event of 2024 and what a beautiful day we awoke too. The sun shone the wind stayed away, and the targets flew straight and true.

Nottinghamshire were the first county to head out with obviously living closest to the ground and they did not disappoint posting a very decent 371/400 setting the benchmark for the other counties and it stood the test of time as nobody really ever threatened it all day so many congratulations to Rob Dennon 88, Neil Orr 87, Rusty Hufton 94, Ricky Crowshaw with a superb 97, Kev Warner 87, and the ever dependable Allen Warren on 92.

Team Lincolnshire were next up and fought hard to take second overall with a team score of 354/400 with Jack Wilkinson top scoring on 96, with Dale Houghton 87, Stuart Whitehead 91, Andy Jackson 72, Rich Hall 76, and Gary Boardman 80.

The Lincolnshire Ladies also put on a quality performance to take the Ladies team title on a very respectable 151/200 with the boss Janet Stennett top scoring on 76, Nicola Mason and Liz MacGreggor White completing the winning lineup.

The Veterans team title is always a battle and always provides stiff competition but the good old boys from Norfolk shone through to claim the glassware on a 179/200. Robert Flowers top scored on 91 for the Norfolk Vets and was ably backed up by Richard Gilbert and Paul Owen.

The Suffolk Juniors rolled though taking the Junior team title with a very impressive 162/200, Seth Peters and Henry Lungley the winning duo.

This just left the highest scoring Junior which was won by William Gilbert of Norfolk in his final shoot as a Junior on an incredible 95/100.

Our thanks to everyone at NDGC for a very well run event and the superb hospitality.

Our Chief Statto crunched the numbers the following day and revealed the unsurprising news that the Directors Trophy title was staying in the Fens but just moving from Norfolk to Suffolk.

Well, done to everyone from Team Suffolk for regaining “Your Trophy”, that’s the 9th time in 14 running’s of this event which started in 2010. Suffolk finished on 38 points, with Team Lincs just 3 points behind and the 2023 winners Norfolk in third place on 32 points.

Well done to everyone that picked up team honours over the season, and of course to everyone that took part and represented their county with pride.

Lastly and certainly not least, many thanks to the Team Captains and County Secretary’s who make it all happen by chasing everyone to represent their county, and of course the grounds, the ground staff and the referees, we couldn’t do it without you.

See you next season.
