Alan Bott RIP

ALAN BOTT – LEICESTERSHIRE & RUTLAND CPSA

It is with great sadness that we have to report the sad passing of Alan Bott at the weekend.

Alan was a stalwart of Leicestershire & Rutland CPSA as a committee member, County Secretary, Pull Magazine writer, Regional Skeet Team Manager, and an East Midlands Regional Rep since 2012 which he only gave up when he started to struggle with his mobility.

Alan was a well-known figure in the region and could always be relied upon not just to help novice shooters with a few words of experienced advice, but for his quick wit and dry humour, and when you enquired into Alan’s health he very often responded with the word “wonderful”, he really was one of life’s gentlemen.

I first met Alan when he was running Market Harborough Gun Club wearing his trademark shorts whatever the weather and it struck me then his passion for Skeet shooting something he did regularly at Northampton Gun Club on Thursday afternoons.

He will also be remembered for his refereeing at Kegworth SG and the occasional bit of help if you were struggling to hit a target.

Despite a 2 hour round trip, he always turned up an hour early for his refs duties to lend a hand with the organisation and was always one of the last to leave the ground, but not before he had purchased a slice of cake for his wife to present to her on his return.

Alan put in over 45 years supporting and helping the CPSA and promoting his beloved Skeet and was rewarded for his dedication a couple of years ago with a CPSA Life Vice-Presidency.

Our thoughts and prayers are now with Alan’s family, he will be missed by us all.

God Bless Alan.

We will of course announce the arrangements once known.
