EAST MIDLANDS OLYMPIC SKEET CHAMPIONSHIP
HELD AT BEVERLEY & EAST YORKSHIRE SHOOTING GROUND
ON SATUDAY, 22ND MARCH
With no shooting ground within the region able to hold this year’s championship we were very much obliged to Beverley & East Yorkshire Shooting Ground for stepping up to accommodate us. As well as the change of venue we also extended the number of targets to 100 in response to requests from those who had commented that “it was not worth going for 50”.
The change of venue meant some extra travelling for some but it did not deter last year’s champion, Matthew Robinson, who was keen to retain his title. He started very strongly, obliterating target after target but this discipline requires such intense concentration that it is hard to maintain it but although the second 50 was not as strong as the first, nevertheless, his score of 69/100 saw him lift the trophy for the second consecutive year. Matthew was joined by fellow Lincolnshire shooter, Keith Simpson.
Keith is also a previous winner, having won this championship in 2022. Although not able to match Matthew on this occasion his score of 56 gave him the award for Veteran Champion.
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to Calum and Adam at Beverley & East Yorkshire Shooting Ground.
RESULTS
Matthew Robinson 69 D class Overall winner
Keith Simpson 56 C class Veteran winner
