DIRECTORS TROPHY ROUND UP

DIRECTORS TROPHY ROUND UP

On Sunday it was the Intercounties All Round at Nottingham & District GC and it was Team Suffolk running out as the Senior team winners against arch-rivals Norfolk, by just 3 clays.

Just to clarify the way this is worked out in the Senior team category, it’s the top 6 scores from a team of 8 to count that gives a county its final total. In Ladies, Vets and Juniors it’s the best 2 scores from a team of 4.

In the Directors Trophy things are a little bit different, it’s the best 8 scores taken from any category, that’s Seniors, Ladies, Vets and Juniors that give us a counties Directors Trophy total, and not for the first time this season Norfolk have been able to improve their final score, this time with some big scores in Vets, and once again that has allowed them to take the maximum of 8 points.

Norfolk have now taken maximum points from all four Intercounties shoots, the first time this has ever been done in the 15 years of Directors Trophy history, beating the Northants record from several years ago when they won the first three shoots.

Norfolk now sit 5 points clear at the top of the table and will now possibly be wondering if they can complete a clean sweep by also winning the final two Intercounties shoots, the Intercounties Sporting at Sporting Targets on Sept 20th & 21st and then the final shoot of the season, the Intercounties ABT at Nottingham & District GC on September 28th.
