AGM Report 2014

AGM report

The 27th Greater London Annual General Meeting was held at the A1 shooting ground on Saturday the 22nd of February 2014. present were 20 members and a few guests.

Steve Williams was re-elected as Chairman and opened the meeting welcoming county members and guests and also John Offord and Johnny Johnson to the meeting.

The Chairman spoke about some of the achievements in clay shooting during the 2013 year, he also gave mention to the top G/L shooters who were listed in the Top 20 listings in Pull! and read out a list of names.

The Chairman congratulated those who had made it onto this list and also said it was a pleasure to see new names on the Award certificates that he signed for every winner and category. It was mentioned that the Committee pay CPSA head office to send out a letter to all the winners inviting them to attend the AGM and collect their Award certificates, yet only three apologies for absence were received.

Thanks were given to the A1 shooting ground for hosting the AGM and providing a very nice buffet, and also to all those who worked behind the scenes to ensure Greater London county endured through difficult times.

This AGM some of the committee and team managers were not standing for re-election, they were Graham Woodman who acted as Helice team manager as well as serving on the committee for many years and also to Tom Wingham who has helped the county from its inception in 1987 and in latter years was the FITASC Sporting team manager - both will be sadly missed although will still be shooting. Kevin Douglas it taking over the FITASC team manager’s role from Tom.

Treasurer Hugh Pughe-Jones gave out the accounts and said the balance was steady on a roughly break even basis, there was not much scope to take on any new initiatives until entries and subsequent shoot levies improve which including the AGM raffle are the only source of income.

Secretary Peter Carsons gave his report and confirmed that where Greater London shared the levy on the day with other counties it made the shoot a better day but did reduce our county income, reduced entries of Greater London shooters and less grounds to place events made planning the county fixture list quite a task.

Under any other business the county badges received some discussion, everyone liked the present design but asked if by not having the 'year' on could save costs - this was generally rejected as many shot with the intention of enlarging their collection of unique year badges.

The National Intercounties events were discussed, with some disappointment that no teams were entered in 2013, the main problem was that because there was no discipline team manager nobody was available to put together a team. (anyone wanting to take the initiative to gather a team will be most welcome to do so - there are Team badges for every shooter on the team)

The Allrounder can in for discussion, due to very limited entries and the available grounds able to run it (currently Southdown) it was suggested we look for another venue which the committee will undertake for next year.

Guest Johnny Johnson (Regional chairman) kindly gave out the award certificates to the winners present, noting the certificate design has had an update, and afterwards everyone enjoyed the free buffet.

Chairman Steve Williams closed the meeting around five pm thanking everyone who made the effort to attend and wished them safe journey home and good shooting throughout this year.

Note that anyone who had their photo taken at the AGM can request a copy by emailing the secretary.
