21 & 22 September: English Open Fitasc Championship
Held at Roundwood in Hampshire there were several Hertfordshire shooters in attendance and some great scores were posted. It was agreed that it was one of the best shoots of the season and six diverse layouts challenged the competitors. Jack Lovick posted our highest score of 130ex150 which placed him joint 2nd in the Mens Category, joint 3rd in A Class and joint 4th overall. Charlie Monahan, just one clay behind on 129ex130 placed joint 3rd in the Mens Category, joint 4th in B Class and joint 5th overall.
21st & 22nd September: Shotgun Series British Championship OSK & OTR
Having to contend with dense fog and heavy rain at the Championship held at Fauxdegla Shooting Ground Bethany Norton, Lucas Hyde and Maddie Purser all put in exceptional performances. In the OSK event Bethany scored 110ex125 to take the Gold Medal, retaining her Junior Ladies title for the third consecutive year. In the Mens OTR event Lucas secured a MCS in qualification with an excellent score of 119ex125. After an epic battle in the final Lucas scored 43ex50 to take the Silver Medal. Maddie Purser posted a great score of 116ex125 in qualification, another MCS. Having secured her place in the Ladies OTR final Maddie fought hard to take the Silver Medal.
29 & 30 September: ISSF Junior World Championship Olympic Skeet
Maddie Russell put in a magnificent performance at the Championships held in Lima, Peru. Coming third in qualification with a score of 113ex125 Maddie progressed to the final where she held her nerve and fought her way to the Gold Medal with a score of 51ex60. Hugh congratulations to Maddie on becoming the Junior World Champion!
4 & 5 October: ISSF Junior World Championship Olympic Trap
Maddie Purser was in action next and scoring 111ex125 missed out on qualifying for the final by just one clay! However, in the mixed team Maddie along with Hollie Lumsden and Leah Southall brought home the Silver Medal.
Around the Grounds
Paul and Jack Lovick were on top form at the Ambassadors Super Sporting event held at Hepworth Hall from 13 to 15 September. Paul was 1st in AA scoring 114ex120 and in the semi-auto event Jack placed joint 1st with a score of 113ex120. They then made the trip over the English Channel to take part in the Grand Prix held at Clays Shooting in Sains-Les-Marquion over the weekend. Jack placed in the top 10 in the Overseas category and Paul came 5th in Seniors.
At College Farms ESP fixture held from 17 to 21 September Matt Martin posted a great score of 93ex100 which placed him joint 1st in A Class and joint 3rd Overall.
Neil Hogg put in a solid performance at Atkin, Grant & Lang’s ESP fixture on 27 September. Scoring 79ex100 Neil was 1st in C Class, three clear of 2nd place.
Barrow Sporting Clays held an ESP event on 29 September where Jamie Collins placed joint 1st in B Class with a fantastic score of 88ex100.
Also on 29 September Maddie Purser was the top scoring Lady and Junior at Nuthampstead’s OTR fixture scoring an excellent 84ex100.
