County News.. 15/4/26

 

Hello County shooters. The Committee has had a reshuffle following the resignation of Mick Marlow (Chairman) during the last meeting due to personal family matters. We all wish him the best for the future and thank him for his work over the past few years. Alex Harris also stepped down from his role as Secretary. So has a result of this at the last meeting, we had a reshuffle which was overseen by John Martin who was present at the meeting.

Your new Committee for 2026 is as follows:

John Wroughton stepped up from Vice Chair to become acting Chairman. He then proposed that Tony Cox become the new Vice Chair and Treasurer and this was also seconded. Myself (Anthony Cox) and Jack Twigger both nominated ourselves to do the Secretary role between us. Jack has took on responsibility for all the minutes from meetings and communication via the committee email channel and the Pull Magazine report. I have took on the website and Facebook page. Chris Rhodes is still the Trophy Manager and Alex Harris and Mike Brookes make up the committee. If you wish to join the committee to have your voice heard then please step forward.

At the AGM held in January it was decided by the committee, to postpone several championships, due to mainly low participation. These are all the Skeet disciplines, the OT, UT, HBD, ZZ. The selection shoot for the DTL was also postponed for the year. All these will be reviewed next year at the AGM, and if enough demand has been requested for an event it will be reconsidered. This is in line with several other counties and regions across the country that are experiencing simililar issues. 

Alex Harris is continuing to be the DTL & ABT team captain, but at present we don't have a Sporting team captain. We would like to has a county, represent and possibly challenge at this year's inter county shoots. I know we have some fantastic shooters within the County and we should be more than capable at putting out full teams across the board. 

Team selection will follow CPSA protocol. To be selected for the County team you must shoot the Championship for the relevant discipline. For ESP you are required to shoot at least one selection shoot and the Championship. At this stage you may be invited to shoot at the inter-counties which for ESP takes place on the 19/07/2026 @ Orston SG. Our aim has the Committee, is to put a full team out in all disciplines to represent our great county and compete in the Presidents Cup. 

1st Selection ESP is @ Grange Farm on the 26/04/2026 Entries 9.30--13.00 

2nd Selection ESP is @ Kegworth SG over 3 days, 2/3/4th May 26 

Chamionship ESP is @ Lakeside SG over 4 days, 28th--31st May 26 {squaded- pre book}

 DTL Championship is @ Normanton SG on the 30/05/2026 {squaded- pre book}
