Derek Olivant Memorial Shoot
DEREK OLIVANT MEMORIAL SHOOT
This shoot provides everyone with the opportunity to have some fun on the ABT layouts at The Priory Clay Target Centre and, at the same time, to raise money for Prostate Cancer in the memory of one of ABT's finest shooters, Derek Olivant. Derek passed away 2 1/2 years ago and Derek's widow, Lynn, donated a beautiful silver rose bowl to be won by the top Lincolnshire ABT shooter. Whilst it may be fun, nevertheless, the competition is still deadly serious as some of our most competent ABT shooters were part of the line up but it seems Steve Smith has got used to having it in his trophy cabinet as he took it home again for the second year with a magnificent score of 93.
For the first time this year, thanks to the generosity of Express Cartridges, we were also able to offer prizes of cartridges for all classes and categories whether they were from Lincolnshire or not so for these prizes we had a nice mix of winners as follows:
100 cartridges for high gun - shared between Steve Smith (Lincs) 93 and A M Cooper (Yorks) 93
50 cartridges (A class) - Mick Gent (Lincs)
50 cartridges (B class) - S Owen (Norfolk)
50 cartridges (C class) - A Bowers (Norfolk)
50 cartridges (D class) - Steve Whiting (Lincs)
50 cartridges (Juniors) - William Gilbert (Norfolk)
50 cartridges (Ladies) - Jackie Houghton (Lincs)
50 cartridges (Veterans) - Norman Smith (Lincs)
In advance of the shoot we received £320 in donations. The raffle raised £102 which when added to the levies from the shoot makes a sum total of £502 which will go to Prostate Cancer in memory of Derek. Thank you to the Norfolk committee who waived their own levies for their county championship to contribute to the fund.
