EAST MIDLANDS I/C SKEET
HELD AT NOTTINGHAM & DISTRICT GUN CLUB
ON SUNDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER
Things are just getting better and better for the Lincolnshire teams this year as our skeet teams snapped up more glassware at the East Midlands I/C skeet. To say they shot their socks off is a huge understatement particularly in the senior and veteran teams. Neither team had a score below 90 with several of our shooters closer to 100 than 90. Team captain, Chris Bone, topped the scoring with a personal best of 99 and was joint top scorer of the day (what a time to do it, Chris, well done!) closely followed by a gaggle of 98's from Andy Harvey, Pete Atkin and Mark Porter and superb back up scores from Doug Moore (95), Matthew Robinson (94), Kallum Burrell (91) and Phil Porter (90). The secret of a winning team is not just to have some good top scores but also to have good back up scores and our team more than achieved this. The team had the misfortune to shoot early and had to endure the only period of rain of the day but hey-ho who cares with scores like this.

The veteran category is always a closely fought contest and it would take some exceptional shooting to beat counties who are perhaps more renowned for their skeet shooting than we are and exceptional shooting is just what we got. Brett Aisthorpe was top team scorer with 96 (and is still kicking himself for missing high house 7 on layout 3) closely followed by Eric Cundall on 95, Richard Bird on 92 and Mike Burton on 90 giving them a team score of 191. As both Cambridgeshire and Nottinghamshire finished on 190 it was a real cliff hanger but a job well done.

The ladies were competing against some very experienced skeet ladies but finished a very commendable third. Top scorer Saira Boardman (90) was able supported by Rosie Parkinson (83), Jacqui Baker (80) and Liz MacGreggor (71)
The same comment can be said for the junior team, James Harvey and Callum Burgess, who were up against a fearsome duo from Cambridgeshire (scoring 93 and 92) but they put up a valiant fight and both are improving all the time so watch this space.
Thanks to our team manager, Chris Bone, and to the team at NDGC for a well run event.
This victory puts us in very good standing for taking the East Midlands Directors trophy for the very first time. With just 2 more events to go, Fitasc and ABT, things are looking promising. The leader board is published under the "Team Lincolnshire" icon.
