NATIONAL INTERCOUNTIES ALL ROUND
HELD AT NORTHAMPTON SHOOTING GROUND
ON SUNDAY 3RD OCTOBER
It is not unusual for any report on a shoot to comment about the weather but in this instance the conditions undoubtedly impacted on the scores so can not be ignored. To say there was a stiff breeze really understates the situation as proven by the generally diving bird from the skeet low house and although we usually welcome the sunshine all of our teams found it a hindrance rather than a help. Just 3 weeks ago for the same discipline at the same ground 13 of the region's shooters scored 90+, yesterday just 4 achieved that target.
Some consistent shooting from our ladies team gave them sweet revenge for their defeat at the hands of the Nottinghamshire ladies who took the honours 3 weeks ago by just 1 point. This time it was their turn to turn the tables by beating them by 1 point scoring a team score of 151 to Notts 150. Saira Boardman lead the way scoring 77, closely followed by Rosie Parkinson on 74 and Georgina Barratt on 66.

Another consistent performance came from the veterans team of John Winn (82), Norman Smith (81) and John Toombs (66) who, for most of the day, sat on a potentially winning score of 163 until Cambridgeshire pushed them into the runners up slot and Bedfordshire, shooting on the last squads of the day, finally put paid to our hopes and picking up some medals. The final winning team scores were Bedfordshire (169) and Cambridgeshire (165).

Although the senior team shot well the weather conditions at the time we shot made it difficult to re-create the winning form of 3 weeks prior. Team top dog was Phil Thomas on 83, ably supported by Richard Hall (on his first occasion in a Lincolnshire team) on 81, Pete Atkin on 79, Dave Dale on 75, Chris Bone on 73 and Dave Jobson on 70.

All of our Lincolnshire teams have been outstanding this year and we have collected more awards, medals and titles than ever before. Thanks to all those who have so willingly taken part and congratulatons and well shot to all.
