EAST MIDLANDS INTERCOUNTIES FITASC
HELD AT KEGWORTH SHOOTING GROUND
ON SUNDAY 10TH OCTOBER
Counties within the region have, this year, struggled to lure their fitasc shooters to participate in either the regional fitasc championship or the regional intercounty event. To try to encourage greater participation the dates were changed and ultimately the two events were merged. Unfortunately, this seems not to have had the desired effect as virtually only 3 counties entered senior and veteran teams, only 2 counties entered a ladies team and only one county (us) entered a junior team.
True to form Lincolnshire fielded a full team of seniors and veterans and at least a 2 man/woman team in the other categories.
I have little information about the shoot itself but the scores would indicate that it was tough as only 2 scores were recorded at 90 or above and I know we have excellent shooters who are well capable of putting in such scores.
Although the junior team was unopposed (and obviously won the team glassware) nevertheless both juniors, Kallum Burrell and Henry Sardeson put in scores to be proud of. We saw the very rare event of Kallum having to settle for 2nd place in the team event as Henry took the junior high gun on a score of 76. This also gave Henry 2nd place in the regional fitasc competition being beaten to the gold medal by Cambridgeshire's, M Allen, by just 2 clays.
