UK HELICE CHAMPIONSHIP
HELD AT RUGBY & DISTRICT TRAP CLUB
ON SUNDAY, 7TH NOVEMBER
2021 has been an unbelievable year for Lincolnshire shooters and just when you think it is all over more accolades come our way this time in the form of podium places at the UK Helice championship. An entry of 54 for an Helice championship is a big entry so some stiff competition could be expected. Shot over 18 targets, the winning score of 16 came from Surrey junior, Jensen King but just 2 points back came our very own Trevor Hawkins and Donovan Jenkin. Trevor's score earned him top place in the Mens category with Donovan finishing 3rd in seniors behind Marcus Iddon and Mal Grant.
Trevor Hawkins - Mens winner
Donovan Jenkin - senior bronze
These two are, of course, old hands at Helice (and very good at it they are too) but for Saira Boardman it was her first major Helice championship and only the second time she had shot the discipline at all so for her to finish on the podium was a monumental achievement. Both Saira and Cambridgeshire's Jane Bell, tied for second place finishing 2 targets behind the leader, Dionne Rogers, who has for many years represented GB at this discipline so a shoot off was needed with Jane taking silver and Saira taking bronze.
Saira Boardman - ladies 3rd
Congratulations to all of them.
