NATIONAL INTERCOUNTIES SKEET

HELD AT ERISWELL LODGE SHOOTING GROUND

ON 15/16TH OCTOBER

With National and Regional Intercounties events coming thick and fast at this time of year it takes a lot of commitment to keep up the team momentum but such is the dedication of our team players that they are willing to put in an appearance when needed to represent the county.  For the Lincolnshire teams shooting on the Saturday the 15th the weather could not have been worse with blustery conditions across the layouts proving to be a real headache which meant that some of our best skeet shooters in the senior team had rather a disappointing day.  Matt Robinson was top scorer for Lincolnshire with a superb score of 96 backed up by new recruit for Lincolnshire, Simon Vogel, on 90, Richard Thompson 90, Chris Bone and Neil Biggadike on 89 and Mike Burton on 84 giving them a team score of 454.  Ultimately this score was beaten by the home team, Suffolk, shooting on the following day but this was a very good effort given the conditions.

The veteran team, in worsening conditions, had an uphill task but showed great composure to lead the veteran's category into Day 2 with Doug Moore scoring 94, Martin Grimwood 92 and Marvin Houghton 87 giving them a team score of 186.  The competitors on Day 2 were rather more fortunate with the weather but nevertheless the experience of our vets team won the day as they held off the challenge from Essex beating them by just one target.

Doug Moore and Martin Grimwood delighted to pick up the awards for Lincolnshire veterans.

Congratulations to all who took part.  Two day shoots present their own problems as it is quite rare in this country to have a consistent weather pattern over two days so congratulations for a job well done.

Thanks to team manager, Chris Bone, for putting in the leg work and getting everybody there in the first place.
