EAST MIDLANDS INTERCOUNTIES DTL
HELD AT NOTTINGHAM & DISTRICT GUN CLUB
ON SUNDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER
LINCOLNSHIRE SENIOR TEAM - WINNERS
John Mansfield, Stuart Whitehead, Dale Houghton, Andy Jackson, Nick Day, Mark Cumberlidge and Paul Smith - (George Dilley not pictured)
On the day of this shoot one could be forgiven for thinking that summer was well and truly over as after a few late days of summer sunshine the rain set in with a vengeance. To coin a phrase from NDGC's Carl Smith "it was wetter than an otter's pocket". Nor was there any comfort in knowing that the last 2 layouts would be undercover because, with the wind blowing into the layouts, you got just as wet there as outside. But the uncomfortable conditions made the end result all the more satisfying as our senior team took the honours from the Suffolk team by a clear margin. Stuart Whitehead set our team off well with a 25/75 finishing on 98/293. Andy Jackson straightend the last 50 to finish Lincs high gun of the day on 99/294 but all of the team performed superbly with none of them being more than a point or two behind the top scorers.
The ladies team were beaten fair and square by the Cambs team but in the face of such awful weather were not too disappointed with their efforts. The veteran team felt they had not shot to their best but the home team, Notts, containing Gerry Stevenson and Allan Warren, are hard to beat whatever the weather
This sets us up very nicely for the East Midlands Directors Trophy. The Directors trophy takes the top 8 scores from whatever category and the counties are then ranked in order so big scores from the other categories always helps. At the moment we have our noses in front (just) with scores from the EM Fitasc and ABT still to come. Rest assured we will be going for it!
