National I/C All Round
NATIONAL I/C ALL ROUND
HELD AT EATON HALL SHOOTING GROUND
ON SUNDAY 19TH OCTOBER
When the National I/C All Round and National I/C ABT were scheduled on the same weekend at Brook Bank Shooting Ground no-one was very keen to go. Not that we have anything against Brook Bank but it is such a long way from sunny Lincolnshire. So we were overjoyed when the All Round was re-scheduled to Eaton Hall. Not that Eaton Hall is "just up the road" but it is about 150 miles closer than Brook Bank and we were all interested to have a chance to see what has been developed on the site of the old Doveridge Shooting Ground.
It was indeed sunny Lincolnshire when we left home but by the time our first squad went out at 12.45 pm it was very wet with murky low cloud, conditions which continued throughout the afternoon. Amongst the gloom there were some good scores from the senior team of Trevor Hawkins (85), Andy Harvey (82), Pete Atkin (79), Chris Bone (76). Richard Hall (68) and David Johnson (61) but alas, we were not able to catch Staffordshire who romped away with the senior awards.

But our veteran team are deadly and this season have really taken some beating. So not for the first time this season the veteran team of Marvin Houghton, Richard Gray and John Winn came out top dogs, some 13 targets ahead of the their nearest rivals, Essex. Marvin's score of 86 was up there with the best of them so he also took the Veteran High Gun title and finished in the top 10 overall which out of an entry of 91 is not half bad.

The trap targets were perhaps set at more extreme angles than we are used to and when said targets disappeared into the murk it made life a tad difficult to say the least but our ladies' team stuck to their task and did very well to come away as runners up. Jackie Houghton's score of 62 was well below what you would normally expect from her but when you realise she was 2nd overall (in ladies) it will give some idea of how difficult it was. Jackie was backed up by Janet Stennett on 58 and Jacqui Baker on 57.

Congratulations and well done to all our teams. That's it for this year. Thank you all for supporting the county - you have done us proud. See you next year.
