Chairmans Report Suffolk CPSA AGM 28th January 2025
Firstly thank you for everyone’s attendance tonight and thank you to Stuart Smith and Eriswell Lodge for the use of their facilities.
024 was another successful year for Suffolk Shooters , and I’d like to start with the some of the highlights.
The Directors trophy
After a very competitive fight with Lincolnshire who pushed us all the way, we reached our target in the end by just 3 points in the final discipline the ABT at Nottingham.
For me what was the most satisfying is the true Suffolk team spirit that shone throughout the competition and the great work by all the team managers and competitors.
I have a big individual thank you to Dennis Meekings who made Peter Mayhew team captain in September at Northampton in the All round.
Peter not only was our high gun in the event but created a true team atmosphere that seemed to spread in every other discipline we competed in afterwards, so thank you Peter it was truly appreciated by all the committee and myself.
Juniors Seth Peters & Henry Lumley performed heroics in the final ABT and this made a huge difference to our points total , Izzie Johnson a Junior lady, shot for the first time for Suffolk in the DTL & ABT and did a great job for us as well and she has a great future in the sport of clay shooting.

I am bound to have missed some people, but I know I’m repeating myself again but thank you so much to all who have represented us in all the disciplines, and we hope we can count on your support again for 2025.
CPSA Awards 2024
Please vote for these Suffolk people, voting closes midday 31st January
Young shot of the Year - John Porter
Disabled Shooter of the Year- Ben Woodham
Ground of the Year – High Lodge Leisure
I did speak to John Martin(East Midlands Chairman and Director) yesterday the 2 main points he would have raised is lead and steel, it appears we are safe with lead for at least another 6 years before there’s another review, the other was gun licencing and while the shotgun gun licence increases are substantial they are less than they first were being told (anything up to £400) so from todays £79 to just under £200 is the latest.
East Midlands regional level Janet & Paul Stennett will retire after the AGM on the 11th February they have done a fantastic job and will be sorely missed so we require a new Chairman and Treasurer. Colin Butler will remain as Secretary and we need to support him however we can.
