The Nottinghamshire County DTL Championship was held at Nottingham & District gun club on Sunday 30th July with a total of 54 shooters in attendance, 29 of those from Nottinghamshire. A good breeze and variable light conditions made targets tricky at times however this was pretty much the same throughout the day ensuring the weather didn't play a part in the outcome. Andy Brown was the first of the favourites to tackle the layouts and proceeded to fill them in without a nerve in sight. His 300 was more than enough to win the High Gun and nobody really got close to him. Andy's attitude towards his shooting is admirable and I can assure you he will always be giving it everything he has. Congratulations Andy. In the Veterans Mick Feather finally took Ken Rimington's strangle hold off the trophy producing a terrific score of 298 to push Ken down to Second for the first time in many years. The Ladies category was a close affair with Sarah Odam and Jenny Hilton both shooting 94 ex 100. Sarah just edging out Jenny by two points in the final reckoning. Sadly we had no Juniors or Colts shoot the event which is both disappointing and worrying for the future of our great sport. The Class prizes on offer were taken home by Adrian Snell AA, Steve Hilton A, Chris Twigger B and J Clark C.
