NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Website : English Sporting County Championship

The Nottinghamshire English Sporting County Championships were held on Sunday, 2nd April 2017 at Orston Shooting Ground. The weather was great considering the time of year, with some pleasant spring sunshine and no wind to speak of.

Simon Davis almost made it two Championships in two weeks after winning the FITASC on the previous Sunday, but Tom Gibson matched his score of 89 and a future shoot-off will now need to be arranged in order to establish the overall winner.

The layouts proved to be challenging for many shooters, with stand 7 being the most difficult in the writer's opinion for the 138 shooters from far and wide who entered the event.

Barry Coleman took the honours for Veterans with an excellent score of 88. Rebecca McKenzie scored 73 to win the Ladies title, giving her the double as she also won the Ladies FITASC title the previous week. Sadly, no Juniors or Colts entered the event this year.

The C Class winner was A. McKay with a score of 73.

A total of 47 Nottinghamshire shooters took part. Well done to all who took part!

Finally, many thanks to Dan, Emily and all the staff at Orston for organising the event.
