NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Website : Sporting County Championship 2018

Our first County Championship was the English Sporting at Orston, which took place on 25th March. The clocks had changed, the sun made a long-anticipated appearance and it actually felt like British Summer Time.

The bright light made some targets challenging but that didn’t deter Martin Doughty who took the County HG with 94, 3 points ahead of his nearest Notts rival Ricky Croshaw. Ricky’s score of 91 secured him the A Class win and was just enough to edge ahead of Robert Lowe and Simon Davis who both finished on 90 and tying for the AA trophy.

Pat Dickman collected the Veterans HG on 89, Paul Gibson took the B Class trophy with 86 and Jon Allan took C Class with 85. The ever-consistent Megan Gamble took the Ladies HG with 78. Matthew Armett is doing a great job representing junior shooters for the county at the moment and won the Colts class but with no other juniors or colts competing it is a concerning time. Matthew needs some competition to beat and also to shoot with in the county teams.

Well done to everyone that took part and thanks to Dan & Emily for a great championship.
