West Midlands Area DTL Championship Holmes Chapel Shooting Ground 18^th April.

Glorious weather greeted the 75 competitors, and the action started at 9.30am. Things were going very well, but due to an accident on the M6 northbound, which was virtually stationary between 11am and 3pm, several competitors were delayed. The squads were re-jigged, and everyone that was booked in was given a chance to shoot. Four shooters managed to break 100 targets. But only one shooter scored the perfect straight of 100/300 that was Daniel Price from Hereford and Worcester, West Midlands Champion and a high gun prize of £65. Congratulations to him.

Three shooters tied with 100/297, and after a shoot off it was Silver for Mr C Moule (H+W), Bronze for Mr M Harris (Che) and fourth place Mr Peter Relph (Che).

In the Veterans, Gold went to Mr R Haines 99/296, Silver Mr J Barnett 99/296, and Bronze to Mr M Warburton 100/295.

It was a clean sweep in the Ladies for Cheshire. Gold Jane Hitchmough 97/284, Silver after shoot off Sarah Milroy 95/278, and Bronze for Nicola Booth 95/278.

Juniors Gold went to J Shipton 99/287, Silver T Hurstfield 93/275, and Bronze Z Mansell 90/261.

AA class, joint 1^st P Turner and R E Jones 100/299, third P Chaplow 100/298.

A class, 1^st P Relph 100/297, 2^nd J Barnett 99/296, 3^rd P Richards 99/294.

The West Midlands Area Double Rise was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on August 18th.
In variable conditions Area Champion was Ian Roper on 85/100 with David Weston on 83/100 taking the Silver Medal after a shoot off with Dave Hinchliffe also on 83/100.

Veterans Gold Medal winner was Dave Hinchliffe on 83/100, with Clive Weston taking the Silver Medal after a shoot off with Graham Evans both on 78/100.

Ladies Gold Medal Winner was Chris Thacker on 71/100, with Julie Burton taking the Silver Medal on 63/100.

West Midlands Region Area DTL at Holmes Chapel Shooting Ground on 21st April 2019.

With the weather as perfect as you could get for the start of the day and with all squads full we were in for some great shooting and it didn’t disappoint . Holmes Chapel Shooting Ground was looking at its best in the sunshine and the catering from breakfasts to home made cakes, which were hard to resist, as always was great and a credit to Jane and her helpers.

The day ran like clockwork and the squads were always on time with Helen, scorers and helpers keeping it all ticking along with Dave and keeping the traps topped up through out the event.

Daniel price took the early running with a 99/295 only for Christopher Moule and Ian Roper to both put in a 100/298 and so to a shoot off not only for Area Champion but also for Bronze as Les Furber joined Daniel Price on a 295 late in the day. It was a tense affair as the sun kept shining and keeping spirits high. Daniel Price was victorious over Les Furber with a 25/72 and a 23/68 consecutively. On to the championship title where with some stunning shooting Ian Roper took the title with a fantastic 25/75 from Christopher Moule with a 24/72 not much room for error there.

West Midlands Area Skeet Championship 2018 at Doveridge.

The weather gods smiled on our Skeet shooters on Sunday 6th May with not a cloud to be seen at Doveridge throughout the day with warm sunshine and a gentle breeze providing ideal conditions.

There were 70 entries in total and 2 perfect scores returned of 100 straight. 1st in was Alan Barnes from Derbyshire. A few 98's followed until the very last squad of the day when Ian Parkinson returned the 2nd straight of the day, (his 2nd ever) to set up a shoot off for the overall championship.

Alan prevailed in the shoot off to leave Ian to pick up overall silver medal and also the championship gold for veterans.

The other veteran medals were contested in a shoot off after Craig Macho, Jack Hope, Cliff Gardener and Paul Fallon all returned a score of 96. Silver won by Paul Fallon and Bronze by Cliff Gardener.
