Congratulations to Stuart Haywood – 98/290 who won the Lol Pinch Down the Line Memorial shoot held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 30th July. Also to Dave Hinchliffe who won AA class on 96/285

The Down the Line County Championship was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 2nd July.

Shooting on the 1st squad of the day Dave Hinchliffe set the pace with 100/297 which lasted all day to give him the overall Championship. Tom Waring on 97/288 was the top scoring Senior followed by Ben Stubbins on 96/283 and Kane Hunt on 97/283.

Junior Champion was Troy Hunt on 98/287.

Tom Prescott was the Veterans Champion on 98/288followed by Geoff Smith on 95/284 and Ian Roper on 95/282.

Ladies Champion was Samantha Rhodes on 87/252 followed by Julie Havill on 81/231 and Charlie Parkin on 72/207.

In the Vernon Lathwell Memorial shoot Dave Hinchliffe was the top Veteran on 100/297 and Troy Hunt was the top Junior on 98/287.

Down the Line

A Down the Line team selection was held at Holmes Chapel on 25th June in conjuction with the West Midlands Area Championship. A good turn out from Derbyshire shooters saw Ian Roper top score on 99/293 in the Veterans followed by Stuart Haywood on 94/278 and Geoff Smith on 91/272.

In the Seniors Will Gent and Tom Waring was the top scorers on 98/290, followed by Geoff Flint on 92/271, Alan Christie on 93/269 and Peter Dale on 92/268.

In the Area Championship Ian Roper was joint Silver medal Winner in the Veterans.

Down the line

The 3rd Down the Line team selection was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 7th May.

The battle for Veterans hotted up with Ian Roper taking the top spot on 100/299, followed by Geoff Smith on 100/296, Stuart Haywood on 100/295 and Dave Hinchliffe on 98/291.

In Seniors Alan Christie was the top scorer on 97/288 followed by Will Gent on 96/286, Peter Dale on 96/278, Ian Hunt 94/276 and Kane Hunt on 95/275.

Troy Hunt was the top Junior on 97/282

Down the Line

The 2nd Down the Line team selection was held at Nottingham & district Gun Club on 9th April.

In a battle of the veterans Ian Roper came out on top on 99/296 followed by Dave Hinchliffe on 98/291, Stuart Haywood on 97/289, Clive Weston on 99/289 and Geoff Smith on 97/288.

Tom Waring was the top Senior on 98/291 and Charlie Parkin was the top Lady on 71/204. Well done to all shooters.

Double Rise

The West Midlands Area Double Rise was held at East Yorkshire Shooting Ground on April 2nd.

Ian Roper won the Area title on 88/100, with Tom Waring runner up on 86/100.

Ian was also the Veterans Champion. Well done to you both.

Single Barrel

The Single Barrel County Championship was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 26th March.

In cold windy conditions Geoff Smith set the early pace on 92/100, this was soon followed by Ian Roper on 91/100 and Tom Waring on 92/100 only to be replaced at the top of the leader board by James Wood on 94/100, making him County Champion, runner up was Tom Waring on 92/100 and Will Gent 3rd on 87/100.

Shooting on the next to last squad Dave Hinchliffe came in with 93/100 giving him the Veterans Trophy with Geoff Smith runner up on 92/100 and Ian Roper 3rd on 91/100.

Samantha Rhodes was Ladies Champion on 85/100. Well done to you all.

Help 4 Heroes

The Down the Line leg of the Help 4 Heroes friendly shoots between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire took place at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 19th March.

Derbyshire’s Down the Line shooters rose to the challenge with a resounding win, with Derbyshire finishing on 2883/3000 to Nottinghamshire’s 2679/3000.

Derbyshire’s top 10 scores were:-

Ian Hunt – 100/298, Dave Hinchliffe – 100/297, Clive Weston -98/292, Tom Waring – 99/292, Ian Roper – 99/291, Will Gent – 99/290, Stuart Haywood – 98/288, Geoff Smith – 98/287, Kane Hunt – 94/276 and Geoff Flint – 92/272.

Well done to all shooters who took part in both events raising money for the Help 4 Heroes Charity. Thanks also go to Carl and his team at Nottingham for organising and running the two shoots.

Handicap by Distance

The Handicap by Distance County Championship was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 5th March, this was the 1st Championship of 2023.

Dave Hinchliffe was Overall County Champion on 86/250, this was matched by Samantha Rhodes on 87/250 who was Ladies Champion.

Veterans Champion was Simon Taylor on 83/243 and Junior Champion was Troy Hunt on 84/248.

Congratulations to David Weston who was Overall Highgun in Nottingham & District Gun Club Winter Series,

Geoff Smith who won A class, Dave Hinchliffe who won the Veterans and Troy Hunt who won Juniors.

In the Super shoot off for the Lincoln shotgun David Weston emerged as winner, with Geoff Smith finishing runner up.
