2023 REGIONAL SHOOTING GROUND CHARGES AND LEVY PAYMENTS

The 2023 Regional Committee have decided to waive the Regional Ground fees for all County Championships (£15 per championship) and Regional Events (£25 per championship) for this year in support of our local grounds.

Regional Championship levies for each entrant has increased from £2 to £3 per entry to run in line with all the other CPSA Regions.  Each winning SW Champion and County Team Member will continue to receive a medal and for those whose scores have counted towards their County Team win (all scores to count for teams of 5; 5/6 scores to count for teams of 10/12; 2 scores to count for LVJ) will also each receive a £20 prize from the SW Region.

REGIONAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO COUNTIES

The 2023 Regional Committee have applied to the CPSA for the Regional £1000 Grant available to them and their application has been accepted.  It has been decided that this Grant will be used to donate an equal share between our Regional Counties to show our support of the hard work and effort they put in on behalf of our shooters.  It is under each Countys' discretion how they choose to use this token payment.

INTER COUNTY TEAM FORMAT

Below is the current format for Inter County trap team events, however, at our Regional Committee meeting last night, a proposal was put forward to change the inter county team format (5/6 man teams) for trap disciplines (DTL, ABT, SB, AR) to the same format as the other disciplines (ESP, FSP, STR, ESK) - 10/12 man teams.

Your Regional County Representatives have been asked to speak with their trap members for their preferences before a final decision is made. Therefore, if you have a preference please contact your County Committee as soon as possible.

Many thanks on behalf of the South West Regional Committee

SOUTH WEST REGIONAL INTER COUNTY TEAM FORMAT

TRAP DISCIPLINES (DTL, ABT, SB, AR)

There will be named Senior squads of 5/6 (discipline dependent) entered prior to the commencement of the shoot.  There are no limits as to how many teams your county wishes to enter in any category (subject to ground capacity*).  These teams will be known as (County) 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on  ie Devon 1st, Devon 2nd etc.  Ladies, Veteran and Junior individual scores can be included in the (County) team if names are nominated before shooting commences.  All scores to count (5/6 per team).  LVJ teams will consist of up to 3 members and 2 of the 3 scores to count.  If a L V or J score is used for the (County) team that individuals score will also still count towards their category team results.

ALL OTHER DISCIPLINES (ESP, FITASC, STR, ESK)

The team format for these disciplines will be 10/12 member teams with the best 5/6 scores to count.  Ladies, Veteran and Junior scores can be used for the Senior team if nominated before shooting commences.  As with the Trap Disciplines, the L V & J individual scores used for the Senior team will still count towards their category team results and 2 of the 3 scores will calculate the team result.

Inter County Team Events: Priority will be given in the first instance for each County to be able to submit one team in each category (ie 1 x Senior, 1 x Ladies, 1 x Veterans, 1 x Junior) before any additional County teams can be entered.  However, additional County teams should take priority over individual entries and are subject to the capacity of the hosting Ground.

Combined SW & IC Events: Priority will be given to one County team in each category (S, L, V, J) followed by Regional individual entries and if the ground has capacity, the remaining spaces can either be filled with additional county teams and/or non-regional entries.

County Secretaries/Team Managers: All County teams are to be submitted to the Regional Secretary who will book your places with the hosting ground.  This ensures the correct team members are submitted in case of any discrepancies on the day.

SW RAGM

The SW RAGM will be held via Zoom and in person (if premises are available) on Wednesday 28 February 2024

2022 BRITISH OPEN ESP CHAMPIONSHIP

The SW Region have been lucky enough to have high entry numbers from our Region.  We have submitted Regional teams to the CPSA as below:

2022 REGIONAL FITASC CHAMPIONSHIP

This years event will be a combined shoot held at Barbury Shooting Ground on 31 July.  Whilst we always try and hold individual shoots for the South West Championships and Inter County Events, unfortunately we do not currently have any other ground able to host an Inter Counties event to cope with the entry capacity.  Barbury Shooting Ground have kindly come to our rescue and agreed to combine the shoot for us.  We understand it is slightly earlier than the normal combined Championships but we are very grateful to them for being able to fit us into their extremely busy calendar.  Barbury always put on an excellent shoot and we are certain the event will be a huge success.

To enter your team, please email the Regional Secretary to book your squad.  Please note priority will be given to the Regional teams followed by Regional individual entries (individual entries can be made directly to the shooting ground)

2022 REGIONAL ALL ROUND CHAMPIONSHIP

It is with regret to advise we are unable to hold the SW or Inter County All Round championships this year as we do not have any ground willing or able to accommodate.  We apologise to all those shooters who enjoy attending this event and the Regional Committee will be looking at ways to reinstate these championships for 2023.
