Berkshire CPSA Website : Inter-County Team Selection

  1. General Guidance

Any shooter wanting to be considered for selection into the Berkshire Inter-counties team MUST inform the relevant discipline rep(s) at the earliest opportunity and no later than 48hrs after the county championship date.

Discipline reps are all very approachable and will be present at each of the County Championships. Discipline rep contact details are available here or through the discipline specific WhatsApp groups.

Unless specifically requested, shooters will only be considered for their relevant and default category. (e.g Open, Vets, Ladies, Juniors etc).

If a shooter is selected for the Berkshire team, it is their responsibility to inform the discipline rep(s) at the earliest opportunity if they are for any reason unable to a) accept their place in the team or b) unable attend the inter-counties fixtures. The sooner the rep(s) know will hopefully allow them to fill the space(s) with little to no impact to the team.

Note: Shooters selected for the ‘open’ team over their default category can still be entered as the Berkshire entry for lady/colt/junior/vert etc, however this MUST be known before the day of the inter-counties competition date and MUST be officially entered as the county entry for that category.

It must also be known that; whilst a shooters decision to be considered for the ‘open’ team over their default category will be honoured where possible, it will be down to the discipline rep(s) to fill all categories as a priority. It would be in the best interest of team for shooter’s to remain in their default category allowing Berkshire to send the best FULL strength team to the inter-counties competitions.

  1. Selection Process

Initial selection for the Berkshire team(s) will give preference to shooters that have attended the relevant county championship. If for any reason a team cannot be selected from the county championship entries then CPSA registered scores from previous dates shall be utilised to select any remaining places.

Open Team:

The pool for the ‘open’ team selection will be based on male shooters between the ages of 21-60 (21-55 in FITASC), along with any shooters from the other categories below that have chosen to be considered for the ‘open’ team.

The ‘open’ team selection will be based on the top 5 scores as per 2.1 & 2.2.1 above.

Ladies Entry:

The pool for the ‘Ladies’ selection will be based on all female shooters, irrelevant of age.

The ‘Ladies’ entry will be based on the highest ladies score as per 2.1 & 2.3.1 above.

Veteran Entry:

The pool for the ‘Veteran’ selection will be based on all shooters, aged >60 (>55 in FITASC).

The ‘Veteran’ entry will be based on the highest veteran score as per 2.1 & 2.4.1 above.

Junior Entry:

The pool for the ‘Junior’ selection will be based on all shooters, aged 16-21.

The ‘junior’ entry will be based on the highest junior score as per 2.1 & 2.5.1 above.

Colt Entry:

The pool for the ‘Colt’ selection will be based on all shooters, aged <16.

The ‘Colt’ entry will be based on the highest junior score as per 2.1 & 2.5.1 above.

Note: As per the note in section 1: it is up to the discipline rep(s) to firstly fill all categories as a priority, if possible. For example, if there is only a single junior entry recorded, then it would be in the best interest of the team for that shooter to remain in their default category allowing Berkshire to send the best FULL strength team to the inter-counties competitions.

Note for Discipline reps: Nominations for specific categories MUST be submitted prior to the inter-counties competition date. Further guidance can be found on the South East Region webpage here.
