HEREFORD & WORCESTER ALL ROUND CHAMPIONSHIPS 2016
We held our All Round at Park Farm Shooting Ground on Sunday 26th June. The weather was pretty much perfect with a little sun and no rain so it was great for shooting.
Phil Sanders went out early with myself to check all the trap settings for the various disciplines and made windage adjustments so the targets all went through the hoops where required.
The All Round competition consists of the following disciplines, 25 DTL (single barrel), 25 ABT, 25 skeet and 25 sporting. This is a great mix of shooting and a competition where you can try a few different disciplines on the same day.
The County Champion this year was Nick Dean with a score of 93.. This is the second year Nick has won this event, so well done Nick. There were three runners up on 90, Mike Bartlett, Julian Morris and Dan Price. Our Junior Champion was Brandon Smith with a very good score of 82 which is a great score for this type of event. Ladies Champion was Jackie Cotton on 74 and the Veterans Champion was Trevor Lloyd on 79. We also have a Colts category and this was won by Will Goodman on 78.
Many thanks to all at Park Farm for yet another well run event. (Rod Davies)

WM AREA & I/C All Round Championships 2016
It was great to see all the members who turned out to represent H&W at the Area & I/C All Round Championship at Fauxdegla on 24th April. I appreciate it was a long way to travel and I hope everyone enjoyed the day. It was a very wild old place on the top of that mountain and scores were a little lower than expected due to windy conditions. We managed to enter teams in ALL the categories and I have attached our scores later in this report along with some photos. I was very pleased with the efforts of our youngsters who shot incredibly well considering their experience of some of the disciplines. Brandon Smith shot a brilliant 85 and Emma Parkinson an excellent 79.
Brandon won WM Area Junior Champion award along with some money from his class. He also was part of the Juniors Bronze medal winning Team along with George Jones and first time County Team shooter William Goodman. Emma Parkinson won joint Silver in the Ladies Area event and was partnered by Pat Smith to take 4th place in the Ladies Team event. Brian Smith and Martin Moss also picked up Bronze medals in the Veterans event. Our Senior Team sadly ended up just outside the medals in 4th place which I have to take some of the blame for as I shot incredibly badly on the day. The only medals I got close to were the ones I presented at the end. I would like to thank Nick Stokes for organising the Area &I/C medals. (Rod Davies)

WEST MIDLANDS AREA & INTER-COUNTY ALL ROUND CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015
The West Midlands Inter County + Area All Round Championships were held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 14th June. We managed to put together teams in all categories, a big thank you to all who turned out to represent the county.
Seniors won silver just 7 targets behind the winning Derbyshire team, juniors shot well to win silver, ladies also did well with bronze, not forgetting the vets also winning bronze.
Being a West Midland area shoot as well, individuals who shone were top sporting shooter Phil Smith – Area Champion, Rod Davies - Area runner up (after shoot off ) well done Rod.
Jane Taylor (another sporting shooter) took Area silver ladies, and last but not least a well deserved Area junior bronze went to Brandon Smith, who shot an 80 having never shot an all round before.
Scores, seniors - Phil Smith 92, Rod Davies 90, Kevin Cotton 86, Jason Taylor 84, Luke Sanders 77. Ladies - Jane Taylor 79, Jackie Cotton 66, Veterans - Pat Smith 66, Ron Braithwaite 78, Juniors - Brandon Smith 80, Charles Lilwall 79, Jack Lilwall 74.
Talking points on the shoot were the “waspy” ball trap (but it was the same for everyone). Also Rod’s shoot off, level after 25 targets and having to shoot again, finally winning by 2 targets on the single barrel DTL.
Thanks to Nottingham + District Gun Club for having us, the shoot ran smoothly all day, well done. (report by Wes Harris)

HEREFORD & WORCESTER ALL ROUND COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014
We had great weather for the Hereford and Worcester All round County Championship with a fantastic turnout, the usual suspects where there but we also had a lot of H&W shooter's who were shooting their first county all rounder for some time. We can put the increased turnout down to this being the first of many registered county shoot's for Park Farm SG Ombersley, the day ran like clockwork, Phil & Di Sanders and the rest of the team did a smashing job, and I think we can safely say that Park Farm SG is now the home of Hereford & Worcester county shooting. We had 39 entries that were registered with the CPSA and a handful of un registered shooters that we hope to convert, out of these 32 were H&W shooters with a good range of Colts, Juniors, Ladies, Seniors and Vets. The stand out shooter of the day and County Champion was Phil Smith with a top notch 97/100, followed by Lee Betts on 92/100 and Rod Davies on 91/100. But I foresee some rising stars that may give Phil a run for his money in the near future, in the shape of the Colts. The Champion Tom Betts came in with 71/100 followed by James Lewis on 69/100 and Max Haywood 64/100. No doubt Tom has had some pointers off his Granddad Graham Betts who won the Vet's championship with 86/100, followed by Graeme Walker on 77/100 and Rob Williams on 76/100. The Junior Champion was Dan Mills on 64/100, followed by Andrew Stokes on 56/100. Last but not least the Ladies Champion was Lisa Sanders scoring 78/100, followed by Jackie Cotton 73/100 and Pat Smith 71/100. Thank you to everyone who came and supported the county and we hope to see you for the next shoot. (Report from Dan Cooper)

WEST MIDLANDS AREA AND INTER-COUNTIES ALL ROUND CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013
The West Midlands Inter-Counties All Round Championships took place at Doveridge Clay Sports on Sunday 20th October 2013. The Hereford & Worcester results at this event resulted in some high's and some not so high. The Junior team of George Jones and David Lloyd shot very well indeed, coming away with the Bronze medal in their very first attempt at this, they both show a lot of promise for the future. The Ladies team of Pat Smith, Jane Taylor and Jackie Cotton were just one point off Silver, and got the Bronze. The biggest congratulations of the day however must go to Ron Braithwaite who shot his socks off even though he was tired when he started the event, his score of 87 meant that not only did he and John Arnold win Silver in the Veterans, but he got a Silver Area medal and he won his class as well, well done Ron. Of course to every Yin there is a Yang and unfortunately our Senior team were just out of the medals with our H&W Chairman, Rod Davies, having a particulary difficult day. If there was a no bird, a misheard call or a trap malfunction, he had it, which didn't help his patience and to add insult to injury he forgot to take his gun at the end of the day and had to return to Doveridge for it, let's hope the shooting gods will look more pleasantly on him next time. (Kevin Cotton - All Round Manager)

WEST MIDLANDS AREA & I/C ALL ROUND CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012
Hereford & Worcester enjoyed medal success at the I/C All Round Championships at Nottingham on Sunday 17th June 2012, writes H/W All Round Manager Kevin Cotton. The senior squad of Rod Davies, Kevin Cotton, Nick Stokes, Phil Sanders and Luke Sanders (Phil and Luke making their county debute), won the gold medal. Rod was High Gun for the day, with a score of 96. He also won Area Senior Gold. Not to be outdone the ladies team of Jackie Cotton, Claire Heywood and Lisa Sanders won the gold medal after a nail biting shoot off against Shropshire. It was also Lisa’s county debute, and she shot exceptionally well winning the Area Ladies gold. Our Veteran team of John Ward and Ron Braithwaite also shooting this discipline for the first time for H/W came away with the silver medal. The whole team had a really enjoyable day, with plenty of fun and support for each other, the weather being good, well it didn’t rain. Thanks to Nottingham for making us feel really welcome, we hope to visit you again in the future.

WEST MIDLANDS AREA AND I/C ALL ROUND CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011
We had an early start to Doveridge Clay Sports, situated in Derbyshire, for the Area and I/C All Round championships on Sunday 16th October. All H&W teams were on at 10.30 so, for some, it was going to be a fairly long day, at least the weather was good to us. We finally managed to put in full teams for all catagories with some good results. When the final results came in only 6 out of the competitors (almost 100 of them) had shot in the 90’s with, what looked like the culprit being the ABT and there were not as many straights as you would expect. The single barrel DTL produced 3 the skeet 9 the sporting 1 with ABT none at all. The senior team consisted of Rod Davies 87, Kevin Cotton 86, Paul Cerri 85, Jason Price 84 and Wes Harris 78. The Ladies were Becky Sealey 73, Jackie Cotton 69 and Linden Partridge 54. Juniors’ were Scott Bower 61 and Charlie Sadler 52. Veterans’ were Mick Jones 74 and John Arnold 70. H&W Ladies took gold with a total score of 142 just beating Warwickshire by 2 clays. The Seniors won the Bronze with a total of 420, our Veterans went home with bronze on 144 and Juniors came in 4th. This year we revitalized the ‘DERBY CUP’, a competition between H&W and Shropshire which turned out very close at the finish. Shropshire Seniors scored 408, Ladies 132, Veterans 138 and the Juniors 149, which gave them a clear lead of 8 birds. Well done to them but hopefully we will do our very best to get it back next year. Thanks to Sue, Jo, Steve and everyone at Doveridge, not forgetting all H&W members.

H&W ALL ROUND COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
Martine and all the staff at Northampton SG made us very welcome for our All Round County Championships on 20th June 2010. We had a good turn out on a warm sunny day. Kevin Cotton shot on one of the early squads and came in with a very respectable 94/100. As it turned out this was to be the highest A/R score of the day with Kevin taking the County Championship title. In second place is Rod Davies with Jason Price (with a late card) joining him on 90/100. Our lady champion is Linden Partridge shooting an excellent 85 and Gerald kings took the veterans title with 86. Simon Jones is junior champion on 77 with Sam Godfrey taking the Colts title also on 77.
