Mayland & District Gun Club - Sunday 30th June 2024

The Essex Single Barrel Championship was held at Mayland Gun Club on Sunday 30th June 2024. Every category was contested which was great and thank you to Mayland for holding the event.

South East Single Barrel Championship - 13th May 2018

A good turn out for the South East Single Barrel championship saw some great scores across all categories despite wind, rain and generally miserable conditions. After 5 hours of competition, Jessica Byard was crowned Colt Champion with a very respectable 71/100, Jane Buy was Ladies Champion with 77 and with a 3 way tie at 95/100 were Lee Byard, Bill Logan and Dave Amos. A shoot off was set up to decide the overall champion and veteran Champion and after 25 targets were despatched Bill Logan took 3rd place with 21/25, Dave Amos took Veteran Champion with 23/25 and Lee Byard secured the Champion title with 25/25. It was a great day, enjoyed by all and run smoothly in conjunction with the DTL and Double rise competitions which all went like clockwork thanks to the management, admin and referee team at Mayland Gun Club.

Single Barrel County Championship

Mayland - Sunday 23rd July 2017

Another great shooting day at Mayland Gun Club saw some tough competition in sometimes very windy and changeable weather conditions for the Essex Single Barrel Championship. Leading the charge on an early squad with a 99/100 was Lee Byard, which eventually could not be bested and led to his 3^rd consecutive win since 2015. Peter Hoare managed to take the Veteran title from Dave Lewzey by shooting a 91/100 on the last squad after Dave’s early lead with 90/100. Jane Buy also managed her 1^st win in the SB category for ladies with an 83/100 and Jessica Byard won her 3^rd consecutive title in the colt category after fending off Newcomer Mason Terry with a very nice 82/100. Well done to all competitors and thanks as always to Mayland for a brilliantly run shoot.

Single Barrel Essex Championship - Mayland, 26^th July 2015

Lee Byard took the title following a shootout with Dave Lewzey after both tied on 93. The competition took place in wet and windy conditions at Maylands Gun Club on the 26^th July 2015. Dave Lewzey did, however, take the vets title. Dave Argent was the Junior champion, Eve Groom was Ladies champion and Jessica Byard the Colt.

Single Barrel County Championship – Mayland 26^th August 2012

 

Troy Petherbridge is the new S/B Essex county champion after narrowly defeating Billy Logan.

Troy and Billy had both scored 96 ex 100 and after a tense shoot-off Troy took the title on 25 to Billy’s 24.

Despite extremely windy conditions, Eddie Mills carded 25,23,25,22 to finish on 95 which was simply very good shooting. There were just a few others in the 90s including Matthew Holley who took Juniors with a splendid 92 and John Haas, top Vet with 91. Pam Dorrington was Lady Champion.

South East of England Single Barrel – 24^th July 2011

Mayland GC hosted this event which once again saw Essex guns doing very well. The Senior title went to Ian Flower of Sussex whilst John Parry of London took the Vets. Essex accomplished a clean sweep elsewhere with Pam Dorrington taking Ladies, Mathew Holley Juniors and David Argent Colts.
