Dennis Meekings sadly passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the start of June 2026. Dennis had been on the Clay Shooting scene for many years as a shooter as well as a referee. In more recent years he was reffing only and his main grounds were Clacton Gun Club, Eriswell Lodge and Barrow Sporting Clays. He was heavily involved in Clacton Gun Club. It was always nice to be greeted early in the club house by Dennis.

Dennis could always be found with a smile on his face, and always had a laugh with many shooters.

He be greatly missed in Essex, Suffolk and the wider shooting community.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jane Hopping. Jane was born on 17th January 1961 and sadly passed away on Wednesday 8th October 2025.

Jane was married to Chris and together they loved shooting. She won the Essex Ladies DTL title for the last 2 years and also won the South East SB in 2023.

We send our condolences to Chris, her family and all Jane’s close shooting buddies. She will be greatly missed.
