Dorset Supreme County Championships

The Dorset CPSA Supreme Championship was originally created in 2010 to find the best all round clay shoot and recognise the acheviements of those who not only shot a number of different disciplines but performed well over the varied disciplines. Recognition is by means of a published points table with the best overall performance being awarded a Perpetual Trophy and the title of 'Supreme County Champion' for their efforts.

In 2016, the format of the Dorset Supreme Championship changed to make it more attractive to domestic discipline shooters by excluding the international disciplines of Olympic Trap, Olympic Skeet, Double Trap, Universal Trench and FITASC Sporting.

The new format being restricted to the 7 domestic disciplines of English Sporting, Sportrap, All-Round, English Skeet, Automatic Ball Trap, Down The Line and Single-Barrel gives an even spread of Sporting and Trap-based domestic disciplines which any shooter should feel comfortable participating in.

"Dorset Supreme/Super 7 Championship Format”

The original Dorset Supreme Championship featured all 12 County Championship disciplines including the international disciplines. After feedback from competitors it was decided that the international disciplines were too specialist for the majority of county level competitors so the format was changed by dropping the international disciplines in favour of the 7 most popular domestic disciplines only, hence the new Super 7 Title.

The format of the Dorset Super 7 Championship is as follows:

  • 7 domestic disciplines will be taken into consideration (taken from the Dorset County Championship shoots). Note that this new mixture of disciplines provides an even balance of sporting and trap style targets, thus giving both types of shooter a fair chance
    • All-Round
    • English Sporting
    • Sportrap
    • English Skeet
    • Down The Line
    • Single-Barrel
    • Automatic Ball Trap
  • Each shooter's best 6 individual scores will count towards calculation of the overall placings. For each contributing discipline:
    • Same Points system as previous years:
    • 1st = 10 Points, 2nd = 8 Points, 3rd = 7 Points, 4th = 6 Points, etc., down to 9th = 1 Point.
  • Ties policy:
    • Any ties for the overall standings will be decided by the number of 1st places, then 2nd down to 9th places.
    • If a tie still exists then it goes to count back from each shooters last round.
