HAMPSHIRE Website : SW&IC Results 2014

ENGLISH SKEET

Blue skies and a steady breeze greeted the 9 man team from Hampshire. All arrived in good time and the first squad was called to shoot immediately we'd all signed on.

Early success with 24s for Richard Horn, Richard Heath and Chris Bloxham and a 23 from Eric Sumner and it looked like we might be in with a shout. Tony Cole faced an upward struggle as his gun malfunctioned on the first target out and he had to shoot the rest of the competition sharing Mark Pearce's gun.
Round 2 and Richard Horn & Roger Deacon both posted straights with Richard Heath, Eric Sumner and Atul Vijay coming into their stride with 24s.
Round 3 and the pressure started to show, with Atul achieving another 24 & Mark a 23, the best of the rest (Richard Horn, Roger Deacon, Richard Heath & Paul Rayward) all scoring 22s.
Round 4 and a final flourish from Chris Bloxham with a 25, 24s from Roger, Eric & Paul and a 23 from Richard Horn.

Steady shooting from the team including a valiant effort from Tony shooting an unfamiliar gun gained us Final Team Scores of Seniors 462 ex 500 and Vets 174 ex 200, and we all waited while the remaining teams finished shooting. Early signs were good with Hampshire leading the seniors competition and 2nd in the vets until the Cornish scores came in, at which point it became clear they had fielded strong teams across all categories relegating Hampshire into 2nd place in the seniors by a clear 25 targets with an impressive score of 487 ex 500 and similar performances for the Vets, Ladies and Junior Categories ensuring that they took those titles too.

Individual results:
SW Champions were Seniors - KS Walsh (Cornwall) 100, Ladies - J Eley (Cornwall) 93, Juniors - J Rounsevell (Cornwall) 99 & Vets B Moussalli (Cornwall) 96.
