Olympic Trap
This year the Inter-county OT Championships were held at the National Clay Shooting Centre on the 31st May, this was a lot earlier in the year than usual and also had the SW Champion titles attached. Being a lot closer to Hampshire we managed to field a full team of 12 seniors accompanied by 3 veterans but no Ladies or Juniors. The team consisted of Ron King, Roger Deacon, Trevor Bell, Ben Gordge, Neil Lockton, Chris Dean, Richard Smith, Nigel Frampton, Jeff Cooper, Graham Stride, Mark Bryant and Carl Miles with the Veterans team being Ron King, Trevor Bell and Tony Gentili. There were 52 entrants spread over 9 squads and unfortunately the other counties didn't field as many shooters as Hampshire so we couldn't really lose. Mark Bryant shot a fantastic first round with the only 24/25 on the first rotation with Chris Dean and Richard Smith scoring 22's, as the day went on the scores from Hampshire remained fairly consistant and by the end there were only 7 targets between 7 of our shooters. Richard Smith finished on 86/100 which was our highest score and enough to gain him the SW Champion title, in addition to this Chris Dean finished 83/100 to take the Veterans SW Champion title. In the team events we won both Seniors and Veterans which is a great start to the year but reflects a role reversal with the event being our side of the region for a change. Well done and thank you to everyone that made the effort to represent Hampshire at this event.
