STAFFORDSHIRE Website : CLUBMAN TEAM

Welcome to the Staffordshire Clubman Page

The Clubman competition aims to introduce A, B and C Class shooters to Inter-County competition and to ensure all levels of shooter are included as part of the Inter-Counties setup. It tests teams of mixed classes against each other.

The team of 12 comprises of 4 x A class, 4 x B class and 4 x C class shooters with winners selected from best team by class and best overall county team.

Shooters will be chosen based on their performance in the Staffordshire English Sporting selection shoots.  Details of the selection shoots are on our Fixtures page.

To qualify, potential shooters must have entered at least 3 of the ESP selection shoots.  For those entering more than 3 selection shoots, your best 3 scores will used.

The class you start the selection shoots in is the class you will shoot in for the Clubman competition even if you change classes in subsequent re-classification.

If you have shot in the Clubman before, you are eligible to be selected to shoot again, providing you have not shot for your County in an ESP Inter-County competition.

💥 WM Area Clubman at Eaton Hall SG – 27 September 2025 ðŸ’¥

Eaton Hall Shooting Ground hosted this year’s West Midlands Area Clubman, putting on a superb competition that attracted A, B and C class shooters from Cheshire, Derbyshire, Hereford & Worcester, Shropshire, Warwickshire and, of course Staffordshire.

It was a ding-dong battle between Derbyshire and Staffordshire to see who would take home the trophies. Credit to Team Manager, Geoff Flint and Derbyshire, whose team put in 928 to take the win with Staffordshire in second place on 908 and Cheshire third on 812. Fair play to Vinnie Spencer of Derbyshire, who despite being a C class shooter, was overall High Gun on the day with a monster 86.

In C Class, with Vinnie in their ranks, Derbyshire always had that one in the bag, hitting a combined team score of 303. Our squad of Thomas Moore, Stewart Phillips, Mark Randall and John Rhodes put in a highly creditable 281, which was still a great effort.

In B Class, the squad of Jon Dennis, Kyle Garner, Cliff Hawkes and Paul Sanders did the business with a terrific 324 - the highest team score on the day! Derbyshire were runners-up with 308 and Warwickshire third with 285.

In A Class, another fine score of 303 from Zac Bloom, JJ Broberg, Paul Rowbottom and Gary Tromans wasn’t quite enough to prevent Derbyshire from edging us out with a very good 317.

There were some notable individual performances for the County today, across all the classes. Young Thomas Moore in C class shot 79, bettered only by the two C class Derbyshire shooters. It was great to see Zac Bloom make his debut for the County in A class. But the Staffordshire High Gun on the day came in B Class, with Kyle Garner’s 83, just ahead of Paul Sanders with 82 and Jon Dennis on 81.

A big thank you to Valerie-Anne Barrow for all her help in putting the squads together presenting various polo shirts on the day and likewise to Martin Butcher and not least, for running the Staffordshire selection shoots.

Special thanks to everyone at Eaton Hall for putting this shoot on today, especially Lara Dale who did a great job with sorting out all the arrangements and getting the whole thing to run like clockwork – no easy task! And to Miles Machin from the CPSA who likewise helped to ensure the event ran smoothly and helped with the trophy presentations. Great to see all of the County squads mixing together during the shoot and then staying at the end.

Last but no means least, my thanks to all the Staffordshire shooters who came out today – you did yourselves and the County proud!
