STAFFORDSHIRE Website : OLYMPIC TRAP TEAM
Welcome to the Staffordshire CPSA Olympic Trap (OTR) Page
As it's name indicates, this is one of the disciplines which forms part of the shooting programme at the Olympic Games.
A trench in front of the shooting stands conceals 15 traps arranged with one group of three for each of the five shooting stands (or pegs).
Shooters take turns to shoot at a target each, before moving in a clockwise direction to the next stand in the line. Targets for each shooter are thrown immediately upon the shooter's call and are selected by a shooting scheme that ensures all competitors receive exactly the same target selection. Olympic Trap targets are much faster and with more varied angles and heights than DTL targets.
Scoring is done of the basis of one point per target hit, regardless of whether this is achieved with the first or with the second barrel.
Selection Criteria
Where possible, a team of 6 will be selected to represent Staffordshire.
Squad members will be selected from a combination of the top performers at the Staffordshire County Championship and shooting averages at CPSA registered events over the previous 12 month period. The Staffordshire Olympic Trap County Champion will also automatically be selected for the following year's Olympic Trap team. All selection is subject to availability at the Inter County Championship and payment of the appropriate Staffordshire levy at the County Championship.

Olympic Trap European Championship - Osijek, Croatia
A simply BRILLIANT Bronze for British Shooting Team GB’s Tegan Hart, Maddie Purser and our very own Leah Southall in the OT Women's Junior event at the recent ESC European Championship in Croatia.
The young trio shot an excellent 193/225 in qualification to face Turkey in the Bronze Medal match. Safe to say that it was every bit as close and dramatic as you would expect, with Team GB holding their nerve to take the Bronze by a score of 7-3.
Terrific performance from Team GB – well done Teghan, Maddie and Leah - Woop! Woop!

💥 Olympic Trap - Super Leah Strikes Silver 💥
💥 Nordic Championships, Finland - 1-5 August 2022 💥
Staffordshire's Leah Southall was representing Team GB for the first time at Olympic Trap, taking part in the Junior Ladies team at the Nordic Championships in Orimattila, Finland last week.
Leah qualified with a fine PB of 109/125 to see her into the Junior ladies final. Having had a slow start, things really kicked into gear and Leah shot superbly to make it into the Gold medal match, finishing with a brilliant Silver medal 🥈 in her very first international final. A fantastic achievement, Leah 👏
Sadly, Leah has suffered a small fracture in her wrist after a fall and will be in plaster for the next few weeks. I'm sure everyone in Staffordshire CPSA would like to wish Leah a speedy recovery so she can get back to doing what she does best - smashing targets and doing us all proud.
Steve Kilner, Vice-Chair and Secretary - Staffordshire CPSA
