LINCOLNSHIRE FITASC CHAMPIONSHIP
HELD AT ORSTON SHOOTING GROUND
ON 24TH/25TH MAY
A total of 21 Lincolnshire shooters (out of 50 entrants) took part in this year’s Lincolnshire FITASC Championship. The event was twinned with Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire CPSA and hosted by Orston Shooting Ground across two days on Friday/Saturday 24th/25th May .
As always, Orston put on a challenging set of targets but 92 of them were mastered superbly by Lincolnshire's Gary Taylor who not only took the Lincolnshire high gun and B class with that score but was overall high gun, pipping Staffordshire's Stephen Williams by just one clay.
Who would have thought that Paul Zaitschenko was old enough to be a veteran but as veterans start at a very lowly age for FITASC Paul claimed top veteran with 85 and C Class, a score matched by Trevor Hawkins in A class. Top scorer in D class was last year's Lincolnshire Supreme Champion, Robin Ley on 74. James Peatfield was, for the second consecutive year, top junior on 68.
Well done to all those that took part. The scores will be used to formulate the Lincolnshire FITASC team for the East Midlands inter-counties competition scheduled for Saturday/Sunday 5th/6th October at Sporting Targets.
Thanks to all of the staff and referees at Orston Shooting Ground for putting on a fabulous competition, which ran like clockwork from start to finish.
