PAUL HURTON - 2024 HANDICAP BY DISTANCE CHAMPION

Handicap by Distance is just a fun event!  Really!  As this year has been a tad damp it will come as no surprise that it rained on the day of the Lincolnshire Handicap by Distance but for good measure it also blew a howling gale with temperatures never reaching more than 6 degrees.  Many took one look at the conditions and thought better of it so although we have a winner everyone who took up the challenge deserves a medal.  Our championship was combined with Notts, Derbys & Leicester & Rutland which attracted 30 brave souls in total with 10 of those being Lincolnshire members.  The extra yardage usually favours those in C class as the 1 yard back is very litle different to normal DTL but as the top 2 this year were A class shooters the conditions maybe favoured the more experienced shooters but spare a thought for Mark Shaw.  Mark is one of the best DTL shooters in the land but he had the misfortune to shoot on the first squad in full monsoon conditions and being the only AA class shooter on the day had to shoot on a squad on his own.  A less committed shooter would have thrown in the towel after 25 but Mark stuck it out to the end.  I bet he was glad of a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich after that lot!

Top honours for Lincolnshire went to Paul Hurton on 86/250 closely followed by John Winn on 84/246.

Congratulations to the winners and all those who took part.
